First Alert 2087F: What to Know
Per First Alert's own product page, the 2087F is a combination-lock safe rated to endure external temperatures of up to 1700°F for up to one hour while keeping the interior below 350°F — the threshold the company cites as the point paper documents begin to char. First Alert states the safe has been independently verified by a testing lab to protect not just paper but electronic media specifically, including memory sticks, CDs, DVDs and external hard drives, which is a more specific claim than a general "fireproof" label.
The safe is also described as fully waterproof, with pry-resistant concealed hinges and a waterproof seal First Alert states will protect contents even if the safe is completely submerged. At 0.94 cubic feet, it's a mid-sized option in this comparison — smaller than the Honeywell and Barska safes here, but with a specific electronics-protection claim neither of those two makes as explicitly.
First Alert's own site listed this model as currently sold out at the time of our check, with a price around $249 when in stock. The company also sells a 2087F-BD bolt-down variant and a 2087DF digital-lock version, so confirm you're looking at the combination-lock configuration described here if that's your preference.
