HULKMAN Alpha85S: What to Know
HULKMAN rates the Alpha85S at 2000A peak, and its Amazon listing and reference spec page put its engine ceiling at 8.5L gas / 6.0L diesel. Worth noting: HULKMAN's own alpha85s marketing page uses slightly different wording elsewhere on its site (referencing 8.0L gas / 5.0L diesel), a minor inconsistency between HULKMAN's own materials that buyers should resolve by checking the number printed in the included manual rather than any single web page.
The battery is a 74Wh / 20,000mAh lithium-ion pack that recharges via 65W USB-C in about two hours, with the 3.3-inch display showing charge level, output voltage, and fault codes rather than just a status light. In an independent AutoGuide test, the Alpha85S restarted a fully dead battery on a 2008 Subaru Forester in roughly 20 seconds and managed seven consecutive dead-battery starts before its charge dropped from 90% to 50%. The same test found it struggled after two attempts on an oversized 6.5L diesel truck, a size above its own 6.0L diesel rating, so that result is consistent with (not a contradiction of) HULKMAN's published spec, but a useful real-world data point on where the ceiling actually sits.
The Alpha85S uses what HULKMAN describes as 10-layer protection circuitry including reverse-polarity detection, plus an IP65-rated housing. Its preheat technology, which warms the internal cells before a jump attempt in cold conditions, is a genuine functional difference versus most competitors (including HULKMAN's own non-S Alpha85), which don't reliably operate much below freezing.
