If you're mounted on a webcam arm or desk rather than a floor stand, the Elgato Ring Light is the app-and-Stream-Deck-friendly pick for streamers, though it ships without a floor stand and has a smaller light ring than the others. Buyer checklist
This is desk research, not a hands-on test: we did not physically operate any of these lights. For each product we located a live Amazon.com listing and cross-checked its title, ASIN and specs against the brand's own product page (or a major retailer like B&H/Adorama when the brand's page was thin), noting anywhere the two sources disagreed on a number rather than picking one silently. Where a brand didn't disclose a spec (for example, an exact lux figure or wattage), we said so instead of estimating. No subjective claims about "flattering" light or picture quality are made, only the measurable specs each manufacturer publishes.
For a single-person webcam setup at arm's length, a 10-12 inch ring light is often plenty. The 17-18 inch lights in this guide throw more even, shadow-reducing coverage at a greater working distance, which matters more for full-body content, two-person interviews, or filming rather than a seated Zoom call.
CRI (Color Rendering Index) measures how accurately a light renders colors compared to natural daylight, higher is better for skin tones, with 90+ considered good and 95+ very good. Lux measures raw brightness at a given distance. A light can have high lux but mediocre CRI (colors look artificial) or vice versa, so check both rather than brightness alone.
The Neewer RP18B Pro ships with an AC adapter but can run on a separately sold NP-F or V-mount battery and plate. The Lume Cube 18-inch light is AC-corded but is compatible with external Sony NP-750 batteries (sold separately). The Elgato, Godox LR150 and Weeylite WE-10 units in this guide are AC-powered only, with no disclosed battery option.
