DeWalt DW088CG Cross-Line Laser: What to Know
The DW088CG is a self-leveling, two-line cross laser (one horizontal, one vertical) using a green beam, positioned as DeWalt's green upgrade over its older red-beam DW088K. As with the Bosch above, the green diode is genuinely brighter to the eye than a comparable red one, which is why this model costs more than DeWalt's red-beam siblings; it's most worth it for outdoor or bright-room work rather than dim indoor spaces.
DeWalt's own product page lists a 100-ft visible working range, extendable to 165 ft only when paired with the DE0892G detector, which is sold separately and not included with this listing; some retail listings for the DW088CG lead with the 165-ft figure without making that requirement obvious, so it's worth confirming before assuming extended range is included. Self-leveling range is +/-4 degrees, and DeWalt's North American spec sheet states +/-1/8 in. accuracy at 30 ft; some of DeWalt's international listings for the same core laser express the same tolerance in metric as +/-3mm/10m. That's the same accuracy converted between unit systems rather than a real contradiction, but it can look inconsistent if you're comparing a US listing against a UK or EU one.
The standalone DW088CG kit includes three AA batteries and a ceiling bracket, but no tripod. DeWalt sells related SKUs, including TSTAK and tripod-bundle kits under different model numbers, that do include a tripod, so buyers should confirm exactly which box configuration a given listing covers rather than assuming all 'DW088CG-family' listings are identical.
